Memoirs of a Damned (2)
The musician years. A classic in popular music, 1b
A new era began as an accompanist for various sevillana groups.
There was a failed first attempt with "Ecos del Rocío," also recommended by Pepe Jiménez, which ultimately went nowhere.
Miguel Ángel, drummer for the Brisas trio, recommends me to join a series of shows by "Solera Fina," a sevillana and rumba group from El Puerto.
As a musician, the highlight was accompanying Eva Santamaría, Spain's Eurovision representative, in a show at the El Puerto de Santa María fair.
Eva was satisfied with the result, but my paths were already oriented towards the local band I had joined: Adios a Dios.
There were some more jobs as an accompanist or solo pianist without much relevance.
The last job I remember as an accompanist was with my older brother, who performed poetry readings. One of them gave birth to the idea for "El gigante me deseas" (The Giant Chases Me) from the album Tripartito.
In those younger years, bored with covering other artists, I began joining or co-founding various bands, such as Adios a Dios, a local rock band. I also joined José Manuel Vasallo with Ghetos (a name also used for another band), a more pop-oriented band.
I also composed some of the songs in both.
Later, together with Enrique Barea, we founded Comunidad Ego, with a varied influence oriented toward techno and dance music.
These local bands intended to submit demos to music competitions in order to gain a foothold in the national busyness.
