Quartets for the 21st century: los cuartetos berekekê (berekeke´s quartets) 2012

The piano began to become a very annoying guest. It had assumed the role

of alma mater of my compositions, and I wanted to get my revenge with some string quartets after hearing the wonders Haydn had created for the genre. Of course, I was not, nor did I pretend to be, the father of the symphonies.

They are a first approach to chamber music with a very personal touch. The

fourth quartet is inspired by the erhu.

Since I never thought of a continuity, I ended up calling them The berekekê quartets.

These appeared the same year as El Mundo de Hojyo Takashi.
