The composer years (21)

Who said fear: Arquitextura (Architexture) 2020

Once the creative and existential crisis was over, Arquitextura did represent a qualitative leap in composition. Obviously, recognition and fame had taken a backseat, and that's the only way to conceive this album.

It represents a compendium of everything I've learned and an overcoming of the taboos embedded in the tonal world that had always characterized me.

Arquitextura, with its minimalist cover, abandons melody and replaces it with textures.

I think it's the most complete work I've been able to create to date. It combines María Andueza's teachings on sound art and Schaefer'landscape, Edith Alonso's teachings on electroacoustics, the structures learned at the Thinkspace Academy, a few hints of Vanoni's advice, Einstmann's sought-after neatness, Félix Parodi's concept of integration and meaning in each sound, and Rafael Martín's "why and wherefore."

The work explores diverse natural and man-made architectures, enriched with audio representations of each. Analog and digital meet again, giving each other the space they need.

In context, we're immersed in the difficult years of COVID-19.

I had moved into a house in Arcos de la Frontera, Cádiz, and my life was going on like that of most other retirees.

It was an uncomfortable time due to the annoyances from neighbors and the situation itself, but in that turmoil, this album was born.
