Academic Training (3)

Along with my degree in Music at UNIR, I also took a film orchestration course at the ThinkSpace Academy, led by the unique Guy Michelmore.

t was very difficult because my spoken English comprehension skills were very basic, and I missed out on a lot of interesting information.

The course included experiences from film composers and professors like Charles Fernández and Milton Nelson, to name a few. You can read their opinions on some of my compositions of Press, on the website.

My hunger for knowledge and improvement led me to Berklee, where I had the enormous privilege of meeting Marc Dieter Einstmann, who was the sound engineer for artists such as Anime Lenox, Depeche Mode, and U2, among others. The language barrier once again took its toll and limited me from getting the most out of the Audio Mastering Techniques course. As I always say, no teacher is to blame for the outcome, nor was my goal to become an expert, just to improve the quality of my work.

Similar circumstances occurred with the composer Gabriele Vanoni, with the result that I learned all this content at UNIR. Furthermore, the paths of so-called contemporary music didn't appeal to me much, and I decided not to take the second course. My training to date culminated in the University of Barcelona MOOC course, Introduction to Sound Art, taught by renowned experts such as Josep Berenguer and Josep Cerdá. It was a shame I didn't have the opportunity to share feedback with such illustrious teachers, and I received much of that material at UNIR.
