Setting the Angle: MIRADORES (Pointview) 2003
As I've mentioned on other occasions, I came to composition casually and without aspirations.
There were sketches of composition in my adolescence, with a piece called Angélica, dedicated to a love that never came to fruition. There were also theater projects that never materialized. All of these attempts were insignificant and didn't fall within the scope of berekekê.
Without a doubt, my years as an arranger were the springboard to dedicating myself more formally to composition. In fact, I reused many of those arrangements in my early works.
For a better understanding of the reasoning behind each piece on this and subsequent albums, we recommend the tutorials found on this website.
In 2003, I got married, worked as a teacher at a school in Barbate, and lived in a rented house in Chiclana. In my free time, I sat in front of my Korg T1 and created the instrumental music for MIRADORES. It's hard to understand why I decided or chose instrumental music, perhaps because I can't sing or don't have the skills to do so, perhaps because I'm not interested in sung music, perhaps because of the style, and possibly for all of these reasons.

I couldn't even explain why this creative need arose; circumstances simply occurred, or, as they say, the planets aligned.
The eclectic nature is grounded: it's a consequence of any artist starting out, experimenting here and there, borrowing from this style and that. The only connection was in the unity of the title: MIRADORES. Angular perceptions of my own reality. A title that emerges, like most literary works, after the fact.
Although MIRADORES isn't an introspective work like other later ones, it does contain traces of it.
Thus, Natalia is the memory of a friendship, Niebla or Las sonámbulas of my literary interests, Chamán of spiritual ones, and so on. They all make up that conglomeration of styles and variations that will be concretized and broken down throughout my career.
As you might guess, it wasn't well-produced due to the limited resources and intentions of this work (which is why a Deluxe edition will be released later).
The value of this work lies in its unexpected firstborn in a large family that would continue to grow to this day. It bears the stamp of his imprint and the creative value of his composition.
